Friday 13th February The Poorbox Brothers

poor box brothers

The Poorbox Brothers are Marc Clements and Ben W King.

Having played with innumerable bands on the road for over 40 years (including session work with Ginger Baker, Andy Rourke of The Smiths, and Van Morrison) Marc decided to get back to basics with harmonica player, Ben, and play the music that inspired him as a teenager.

Ben has been playing guitar for over a decade, having grown up listening to all kind of blues. He picked up the harmonica in recent years and hasn’t put it down since.

Friday 20th February Jonnie Melancholy and the Sad Cowboys

Jonnie Melancholy and the Sad Cowboys bring an infectious blend of country, blues and folk, mixing classics with forgotten gems, all brought together by a love of great songs.

They are a 6 piece band with rich harmonies, playing tunes they've collected over the years, songs they love, songs they hope you'll love too. From old ballads and love songs, to their own take on foot stomping bluegrass, aiming to share the joy of music and get the bar room singing along!

MARCH

Friday 6th March Justin Towell - J+

J+ full band_edited.jpg

J+ is a rock band comprising drums, bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and harmony vocals fronted by Justin Towell. The all-original music of the band’s live set consists of songs written by Justin, originally self-produced and released across 5 albums to date.

While the music is rooted in electric guitar-based rock music, other genres are covered, from 60s-inspired pop and 80s-esque rock to Drum & Bass and punk. The variety of the music is one of the band’s most unique offerings, and all the songs feature melodic vocals, bolstered with Justin’s harmony vocal pedal to add extra layers to the choruses.

Friday 13th March The Spoonful
